Rev. Dr. Martin Dressler
Pastor
Rev. Dr. Martin Dressler came to our congregation 8 years ago. 12 years in Pastoral ministry, he provides insightful and exciting chapel talks. Pastor also teaches religion classes for our middle school students. On Thursdays he is having that class read “The Chronicles of Narnia” and they have been having wonderful discussions about their faith. Pastor Dressler feels that being the pastor at Salem is a real blessing saying “Getting to share the love of Jesus with students and helping them live into God's true story - what's better than that?!”

Susan Scherer
School Administrative Assistant
Mrs. Scherer has been associated with Salem Lutheran for almost 30 years. Her two children are alumni of Salem. She has been in several roles at Salem. The last 6 years she has been in the office as the Administrative Assistant. She loves working with Salem’s amazing staff the students and families and sharing God’s love with all.
Nancy Joy

I have been a Development Director for the past 6 years, 2 of which were in North and East St. Louis schools. Before starting in Development, I worked 35 years as a video producer and editor starting out my career at the LCMS Headquarters for my first five years out of college. I have 2 adult children that enjoy living and serving God in Texas and Arkansas, and a sweet Maltipoo named Mandy. For fun I love to be outside, getting 10,000 steps per day, leading women’s Bible studies and creating fun videos.
Jessica Potter
Grades 5-8
Mrs. Jessica Potter has been teaching for 22 years and has been at Salem for 9 years. Jessica loves being on the staff at Salem because she has a whole second family when she goes to work. She loves her students and treats each one as if they were her own. Teaching here at Salem allows her to share the life of Christ with students and parents.
Rachel Pena
Grades 3 & 4
Mrs. Pena has been teaching for 29 years and this begins her 14th year at Salem. She will be teaching our 3rd-4th grades. She has two stepsons Brandon and Alex, and has two children of her own--Kaitlyn and Jonathon. She is blessed with 3 grandchildren. Both of her parents taught in Lutheran schools, so she has gone to Lutheran schools all her life. She has a dog named Hope and some goldfish at home, but her box turtles stay in her classroom.
Karen Osiek
Grades 1 & 2
Ms. Osiek is new to Salem and teaches our 1st-2nd graders. Over her career, she has taught all grades from PreK to sixth grade. Ms. Osiek says she loves teaching at Lutheran schools because she can pray with the students, remind them of Jesus' love, and sing songs of praise to God. She loves hiking, traveling, reading, playing games and the piano. She also enjoys being a choir and chimes director.
Shelinda Upchurch
Preschool & Kindergarten
Mrs. Shelinda Upchruch begins her 6th year at Salem! She teaches our Pre-K and Kindergarten students. She has a way of making learning so much fun for our little ones. Her 2 oldest children attend Salem. Mrs. Upchurch loves to spend time with her family as they mean the world to her. She loves being on staff at Salem as she says “The staff feels more like a family than just staff.”
